Vienna Hotel and Travel Guide - When traveling to the capital of Austria, you will find many different attractions and sections of the city to explore. One of the most popular starting points while visiting the area is the center of the city. This is where the majority of dining options and hotels can be found. This is referred to as the Inner City, also known as the Innere Stadt.
Innere Stadt is called the 1st District, where you will find attractions, such as the Vienna State Opera House and Stephansplatz, which is where a famous cathedral is located. Nearby, you will encounter an array of interesting and exciting main sights that allow you to experience some of the best things in the city. These include: the famous Hofburg, the National Library, the Rathaus (City Hall), Parlament (Parliament),as well as Stadtpark.
When traveling with the family, an amusement park can be found in the 2nd District, which is called Leopoldstadt. A well-known trade-fair exhibition in the country is held within this district. To enjoy some of the architecture that the city’s churches, palaces and monuments has to offer, you may want to check out the 3rd District, which is referred to as Landstrasse. As far as transportation goes, the Wien Mitte rail station and the City Air Terminal are positioned here.
Wieden, which represents the 4th District, is home to the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna, where the 6th District, Mariahilf offers one of the most popular streets for shopping: Mariahilferstrasse. Filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses and bread, you will find Naschmarkt. There are also many theaters, cafes and pubs. The Museum Quarter of the Inner City can be located close to Neubau, which is the 7th District. Several boutiques, restaurants, theaters and art galleries dot this area. The 8th District, Josefstadt, is a nice place to view a variety of fascinating monuments and churches. The oldest theater in the city is located here as well. Lastly, the 9th District is called Alsergrund, which offers attractions, such as the Museum of Modern Art.
